George Stumpff

George Stumpff Artist

George was born in Santa Fe. His work has been featured in shows at The Rommel Gallery, The Elaine Horwitch Gallery, The Betts Gallery, The Griffith Ranch Trading Company, The Governors Gallery and most recently at the Trappings of the American West show in Flagstaff.

George learned silversmithing while in his late teens and this trade has been his livelihood for over thirty years. Silver jewelry by George Stumpff has been displayed throughout the united states as well as Germany, England, Denmark and Japan. George`s work was featured in Skvstone and Silver one of the :finest books focusing on silversmiths and silversmithing. The many collectors of this extraordinary jeweler include Greer Garson, Fes Parker, Peter Coyote, Sean Penn, Charles Bronson, Bruce Nauman, and Robert DeNiro. George worked on ranches for many years and there began to "whittle". In recent years he has used this skill to carve kachina dolls. George spent many hours carving and perfecting his style. These dolls are carved from cottonwood root and painted with acrylics. They are slightly distressed which gives them an authentically old look, 1890-1930`s. The look is Zuni-Hopi, yet George, who is part Choctaw, very definitely adds some of his own special spirit to each doll.

Music has played a large and important roll in the life of this talented man. Recording under the name G. W Julian, George has two albums that reached the charts in fifteen European countries. His music rings of old time cowboy with a strong bluegrass influence.

George continues to design new jewelry, carve new dolls, create new paintings and write new music. George`s dolls and paintings are on display in a permanent installation at the Old House Restaurant in the El Dorado Hotel. Currently his work is shown at the Rommel Gallery in Santa Fe and the Cog swell Gallery in Vail Colorado.

Randy Rieman

Randy Rieman- Classic Cowboy Poetry

It has been my good fortune over the past ten years, to be involved in the public presentation of cowboy poetry. Although these cowboy poetry "gatherings" as we know them are just a decade old, the tradition of cowboy poetry itself spans more than a century. Many of the classic cowboy poets have "crossed the Great Divide," but they left behind an incredible wealth of western words. Their stories and poems are the foundation on which the current cowboy poetry world stands.

I am exceptionally grateful to these, and other writers, who have left us their stories to enjoy, and I thank their families for allowing me to share them with you.

As for me, I am neither poet nor professional entertainer. I`m just a fella who has been blessed to be able to make his living horseback, and to recite a few poems once in a while. To borrow a line from one of Badger Clark`s great pieces, "...I thank you Lord that I am placed so well...!"

      • $300.00

Jared Nesset

Jared Nesset- Cowboy Poet

Jared Nesset and his wife, Margy, now live in Alamogordo, New Mexico. He is a former cattle rancher and rodeo cowboy from Lander, Wyoming. He is a charter member of the Senior Pro Rodeo Association and was inducted into the Senior Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame on August 19, 1995. His wit and humor comes from his association with fellow ranchers, cowboys, and common folk. He has presented his cowboy poetry from Billings, Montana to El Paso, Texas and a few (which he calls plumb out of the way) places like New York, California, Bermuda, and Puerto Rico. Jared says his poems are focused on incidents in his life that are based on mostly on facts, give or take a lie or two. Jared says he has some big shot friends, some little shot friends and some friends that ought to be shot.
